Typically, you can run your web page from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) for personal usage, but for business, you need an “office” for each domain name you want to use. This office will register & maintain your domain names, provide you with email service for each domain, and give you a lot of support help and software needed for your marketing and tracking efforts. If you are lucky, your ISP has that service at a reasonable price.

Without the “office,” hereafter called a “hosting service,” you will probably wonder why noone can find you on the internet because the search engines can’t relate to the user’s keywords used with the search engine. For instance, if your domain name is registered with a separate company, they will forward any request to see your page “clipped” so that the code and text used in your page as you composed it will not be seen by the search engines. It will show only the title to any search engine. Since the search engine cannot see all the keywords in your page, it can’t relate to the user’s search keywords. You can test to see if that is true or not by clicking on “Page Source” under “View” on your Browser when your page is showing. If you see every line of your page as you wrote it, you are okay; if not, the search engines won’t find you.

There are hundreds of web hosting services available on the internet, and a half-dozen types. From a small home business viewpoint, you can save a bundle of time by selecting your hosting company from places on the Internet that have examined several and have rated what they consider to be the top-ten sites. Unfortunately, each rating site’s list is different, or if they do, they have the services rated differently. Our suggestion is to look at three web host-rating sites which, together, probably won’t list more than 20 or so hosting services. Each of the three will allow you to read the actual evaluation reviews. The URLs for the three rating-sites we used are listed in the left column.

There are “Free” and “Low-cost” host service company listings also listed in the left column. You might want to remember those listings for possible use for additional domains once you are fully familiar with what you need from a hosting company. One of these that is particularly interesting is Supremehost.net in that they offer 5 levels of web hosting services. The lowest two packages are paid yearly but average $1.95 and $2.95 per month. The next three levels are priced at $4.95, $9.95 and $14.95 per month.

There are also specialized web hosting companies on the hosting-review.com” site, such as adult hosting, Canadian hosting, email hosting, etc. There is a ten-chapter tutorial on the subject of web hosting on the site at:

I almost forgot to mention the

http://adsense.webdiscounts.info/ site.

It has a listing of discount coupons for 17 different web hosting sites.
